Dr. Murtala Adogi is a distinguished figure in the spheres of education and environmental sustainability,
characterized by his exceptional service within public institutions and international development organizations. With
nearly two decades of experience, he has established himself as a technocrat renowned for his prowess in planning,
policy reform, results delivery, and system strengthening.
Dr. Adogi’s expertise is rooted in his professional training as an educationist and environmentalist. Noteworthy
positions in his career include serving as the Education Adviser for the UK Government’s Department for
International Development (DFID/FCDO) in the Northern Nigeria Office, Kano, and as an Education Specialist at
the UNICEF Akure, Ondo State Southwest Regional Office, UNICEF Nigeria Country Office, Abuja. In these
capacities, he collaborated extensively with governors and government officials across multiple states in Nigeria,
providing invaluable support to enhance education systems and achieve tangible results.
Driven by a desire to further his impact, Dr. Murtala Adogi founded System Strategy and Policy Lab (SSPL), a
private policy think-tank. SSPL specializes in providing a wide range of services, including policy design, technical
support for implementation, advocacy, research, monitoring, capacity building, and project execution. The firm
caters to diverse clients, including government ministries, NGOs, international organizations, and companies
seeking to amplify their influence.
Dr. Adogi’s academic accomplishments accentuate his commitment to continuous learning and expertise
development. He holds a Ph.D. in Climate Change, Livelihoods & Rural Development from the University of Port
Harcourt, Nigeria, complemented by an MSc in Ecology and Environmental Sustainability from the University of
Aberdeen, Scotland, and an MA in Development Studies from Bayero University Kano. His academic journey also
includes a BSc. Ed in Biological Sciences Education from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.
In addition to his formal education, Dr. Adogi has pursued further learning opportunities, including short courses on
Youth and Education in Post-Conflict Communities at the University of Groningen, Netherlands, and a Certificate in
Working with Ministers from the Institute for Government, London. As a Chevening Scholar, his academic and
professional trajectory reflects his unwavering dedication to acquiring knowledge and expertise in areas that drive
positive change.
